Miami-Dade County Tax Collector

The Tax Collector is part of Miami-Dade County’s Finance Department. We collect current and delinquent real and personal property taxes, special assessments for all local taxing authorities, local business tax receipts and convention and tourist taxes. We are also act on behalf of the State of Florida to issue automobile, boat, hunting and fishing licenses.

2011 Delinquent Taxes
Taxes became delinquent on April 1, 2012. Delinquent taxes must be received by May 31, 2012. Postmarks will not be honored for delinquent taxes.

Online payment using an e-check or credit card will be available for real estate and tangible personal property through Thursday, May 31, 2012 at 11:59 p.m. EDT. Payment is also accepted in person at the Tax Collector’s Office – but only cash, cashier’s check and money orders are accepted.

Reminder Tax Notices
The 2011 Real Estate, Tangible Personal Property Tax and Quarterly Reminder Tax Notices will be mailed on April 16, 2012. The notices reflect all payments made by April 4th. Taxpayers who made payments after April 4th will receive a reminder notice.

VAB petitioners required to pay 75% of tax payment prior by March 31, 2012
Effective July 1, 2011, property owners who file a Value Adjustment Board (VAB) appeal must have paid at least 75% of the assessed Ad Valorem taxes (taxes based on the assessed value of the property) and all of the Non-Ad Valorem Assessments that are for services such as Solid Waste and Fire, by March 31, 2012.

Property owners who failed to make this 75% payment will result in the denial of their VAB petition.

Denial of exemptions and classifications
Property owners appealing the denial of an exemption, agricultural, educational, charitable classifications, or based on the property not being substantially complete, are required to make a good faith payment of Ad Valorem taxes and all Non-Ad Valorem taxes.
