MIAMI-DADE COMMUNITY ACTION AGENCY IN PARTNERSHIP WITH OTHER COUNTY DEPARTMENTS OFFERS WORKING FAMILIES HOME OWNERSHIP OPPORTUNITIES

Program helps first-time buyers save a portion of their rent towards home ownership.


(Miami-Dade County, FL) -- 

The Miami-Dade Community Action Agency (CAA), the Housing Finance Authority (HFA) and the Housing and Community Development (HCD) are working together through an interagency agreement to provide first-time homebuyers an opportunity to become homeowners. The Southern Anchor Home Buyers Program provides a bridge to home ownership for working families.  Eligible families will reside in a secured gated rental community of townhomes located at 12300 S.W. 152nd Street, Miami, FL 33177; paying 80% of present Fair Market Rent (FMR) with a percentage of rent to be used as a down payment towards the purchase of a home. 

 

The program is designed for first-time homebuyers with limited financial resources who aspire to establish or improve their credit reputation while residing in Southern Anchor.  Every month, 40% of the resident’s rent will be set aside in a savings account.  HUD certified Housing counselors will work with each family on credit issues, a savings plan and guide them through the process of becoming a successful homeowner after 18 months.

Open House is on Saturday, June 25, 2011 from 9am-2pm.  The property is newly renovated and ready for occupancy.  On site amenities include two tennis courts, a basketball court, tot lots, as well as each unit will have a separate secured storage space.
