The Honorable Anna E. Ward, Ph.D.
Dr. Anna E. Ward has worked fifteen years within Miami Dade College, and has more than 25 years of local, state and federal government experience.
Dr. Ward’s interest in the CITT draws upon her direct exposure to the planning, development, and operational transportation system in Dallas, Texas, and the user-friendly, people-sensitive transportation system in Washington, D.C. Likewise, Dr. Ward understands and appreciates the mobility concerns of major metropolitan centers and suburban areas, and is a proponent of multi-level transportation planning, pedestrian/vehicular safety, and state-of-the-art transit that meet current and future needs of people.
A trained city manager by profession, Dr. Ward is a former mayor of the Village of El Portal, assistant city manager of Emporia, Virginia, a special projects coordinator for the City of Hallandale Beach, Florida, and former president/CEO of the Martin Luther King Economic Development Corporation. Added to her experience is service as a state lobbyist in both Virginia and Texas and while in Dallas, served as the president of Conference of Minority Public Administration (COMPA) North Texas Chapter of Minority Public Administrators. On return to her native state, Dr. Ward served five years on the Metro-Miami Action Plan Trust, ending her tenure as vice chair for community and economic development. Dr. Ward is currently the executive director of the Metro Miami Action Plan Foundation.
