On May 6, 2003, the Miami-Dade Board of County Commissioners adopted legislation, which requires persons or entities employed or retained by a principal seeking to influence official county action, to register as a lobbyist with the Clerk of the Board.
The legislation also requires persons or entities that employ a lobbyist to file an activity authorization form. Registered Lobbyists are required to file a lobbyist expenditure report with the Clerk of the Board detailing lobbying incurred. The lobbyist ordinance specifies penalties for those who do not register or file timely reports. A Notice of Withdrawal must be submitted to the Clerk of the Board's office upon conclusion of representation of each principal. For more information on lobbying rules, read the Guide to Lobbyist Registration in Miami-Dade County.
