The Miami-Dade Board of County Commissioners adopted legislation, which requires persons or entities employed or retained by a principal seeking to influence official county action, to register as a lobbyist with the Clerk of the Board (2013 Annual Lobbyist Registration Form (PDF).
The legislation also requires persons or entities that employ a lobbyist to file an Activity Authorization Form (PDF), and principals and lobbyist to file a Joint Contingency Fee Affidavit (PDF). Registered Lobbyists are required to file a Lobbyist Expenditure Report (PDF) with the Clerk of the Board detailing lobbying expenses he or she incurred.
The Board of County Commissioners, adopted Ordinance 10-3 and Ordinance 10-34 relating to lobbyist registration fees, and Ordinance 10-4 requiring principals and lobbyist to file a joint affidavit regarding contingency fees.
The lobbyist ordinance specifies penalties for those who do not register or file timely reports by a Lobbyist. A Notice of Withdrawal (PDF) must be submitted to the Clerk of the Board's office upon conclusion of his or her representation of each principal.
