(Miami-Dade County, FL) --

The Kids Let's Go Fishing! program is back, and we've grown! With help from our sponsors, the Miami-Dade Cooperative Extension Sea Grant program and the Fishing and Conservation Trust will now be offering trips at five locations, Wednesdays-Sundays, starting June 16 through September 4. Early registration is encouraged.

Day Ship Location
Wednesdays Helen S VI Pompano Beach
Thursdays Sea Mist III Boyton Beach
Fridays Sea Legs III Hollywood
Saturdays Kelly Fleet Haulover Park Marina,
Miami Beach
Sundays Reward Fleet Miami Beach Marina,
Miami Beach

The summer fishing program is dedicated to providing youth a fun and educational fishing experience, while being accessible to children and parents alike. The program encourages ethical angling for future generations by helping children develop an appreciation of the marine ecosystem and its resources.

Prior to fishing, participants will receive an educational briefing on safety precautions, fishing rules & regulations, use of tackle, and proper fish-handling and release techniques. They will board a charter boat and fish on inshore reefs with light tackle and barbless circle hooks. All trips will practice catch and release fishing.

Tackle, bait and fishing licenses are included. Participants should bring water, sunscreen, a hat, sunglasses and snacks.

Space is limited, and registration with prepayment is required. Children ages 6 and up fish for FREE, adults pay $40. Each child must be accompanied by an adult. Additional children per one adult pay $10 each. Credit Card payments will be accepted. Checks can be made out to the Fishing and Conservation Trust and mailed to: Three Captains Inc, 390 Alton Road, Suite A, Miami Beach, FL 33139.

To register for one or more trips, please call the Fishing and Conservation Trust at 305-372-9470.
