(Miami-Dade County, FL) -- Commissioner Dennis C. Moss will provide book bags and school supplies to approximately 1,000 south Miami-Dade children on August 23 as they prepare for the first day of the 2003-04 school year. The donations are part of Commissioner Moss’ Second Annual District 9 “Back to School Book Bag Giveaway,” which will be held at the Commissioner’s South District office in Florida City.
Commissioner Moss has worked in cooperation with local, non-profit social service agencies to identify children from moderate- and low-income families between ages 5 to 17 registered in Dade County Public Schools who will receive the free book bags.
“We want to give these children as much opportunity as anyone else to excel in their academics and go on to successful futures,” said Commissioner Moss.
Photo Opportunity: Commissioner Moss, his staff and representatives from social service agencies will be handing out the book bags to area children.
