Miami-Dade County Commissioner Dennis C. Moss, District 9, accepted a prestigious honor recently from members of the Pi Nu Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, during its annual Purple & Gold Scholarship Banquet held at the Miami Airport Hilton. Honored for his longtime contribution to the South Miami-Dade community, Commissioner Moss joins a list of other well-known individuals recognized by the fraternity.
“Commissioner Moss’ steadfast leadership and commitment to excellence has set an example for many to follow,” said Curtis Lawrence, Ball Chairperson for the Pi Nu Chapter. “His efforts throughout the years demonstrate to our youth that one does not have to be on television or play sports to be successful.”
In addition to Commissioner Moss, the 4th annual Purple & Gold Scholarship Ball has recognized several well-known individuals in Miami, such as last year’s honoree, Alonzo Mourning of the Miami Heat. The event also recognizes local high school students who are awarded for their academic achievements with $1000 scholarships to a college of their choice.
