The Miami-Global Trader Reports on Trade Numbers, Ethanol and Diplomatic Comings and Goings

(Miami-Dade County, FL) --
The latest issue of The Miami-Dade Global Trader, the monthly newsletter published by the Jay Malina International Trade Consortium, focuses on the global role that the organization plays in promoting Miami-Dade County abroad.

Among the most important stories are:

  • A Miami-Dade mission has gone to the Bahamas under Sister Cities flag, making history by being the first official mission from the county to the neighboring country, which is a top trading partner.
  • The impact of the global economy on Miami-Dade is reviewed by looking at the most recent trade numbers. The shifting of position among the key trading partners of the county reveals the changing patterns of the global economy and how it impacts Miami-Dade County.
  • Miami-Dade is being courted by countries as different as Ukraine and South Africa, a development that was manifested at the recent Hemispheric Congress hosted by the Latin Chamber of Commerce of the USA (CAMACOL), where ITC officers played key roles.
  • At a star-studded panel of experts and top-level officials from throughout the Western Hemisphere tackled the impact that ethanol will have on the global economy and implicitly in Miami-Dade.
  • Diplomatic delegations from China, Turkmenistan and the Pakistani ambassador to the U.S. visited Miami-Dade during the past month. Some of them were welcomed by Mayor Carlos Alvarez and by ITC Chair, Commissioner Natacha Seijas, and members of the Board of County Commissioners.
