The African Trade Initiative was approved by the Jay Malina International Trade Consortium [ITC] Board of Directors in May 2006. The objective of the African Trade Initiative, consistent with ITC's overall strategic plan for international programs, is to develop and expand trade and cultural linkages with Africa thereby enhancing Miami-Dade County's role a global gateway community.
Miami-Dade County has one of the most active and dynamic trade programs with the continent of Africa. Mrs. Bernadine Bush was appointed as Chair of the African Trade Initiative Ad-Hoc Committee by Commissioner Natacha Seijas - Chair of the ITC Board of Directors.
The Committee meets regularly to proactively engage in improving:
-
Creating new trade and economic linkages between Africa and Miami-Dade County
-
Maintaining existing markets and improving international cooperation and understanding between both regions
-
Expanding cultural understanding through Miami-Dade Sister Cities Program.
ITC's African Trade Initiative's Plan of Action is a blueprint that proactively engages in the region's trade and increase economic opportunities for both regions. We have compiled the following relevant information in PDF format about trade relations with Africa for your convenience:
