The JAC’s National Demonstration Project has identified the need to provide training and technical support to the Miami-Dade juvenile justice provider community. As a part of its continued commitment to this community, the JAC implemented the Training Institute designed to provide effective, state-of-the-art training and technical support for mental health practitioners and other key stakeholders in the community serving juveniles.
In partnership with the lead researchers, Dr. Richard Dembo of the University of South Florida, Dr. Maxine Thurston of the Thurston Group, and Dr. Lee Underwood of the National GAINS Center, and in collaboration with the Florida Institute of Government of Florida International University, the Miami-Dade Juvenile Assessment Center’s Training Institute is currently offering the a series of trainings to the local service providers and juvenile justice agencies. Each training is offered twice free of charge to the community. Each session is recorded and will be available on loan.
