Tune into "The Human Side"

Do you want to find out about all the essential programs and initiatives that the Miami-Dade County Police Dept. (MDPD) embarks on to keep our streets safe?  Then tune into "The Human Side" radio show hosted by Rachel Tourgeman and sponsored by Florida National College every fourth Monday and Tuesday from 2:00-3:00 PM on WMBM 1490 AM. This show serves to bring awareness to the public at large of the many special MDPD programs that are in place to continue to keep Miami-Dade County a safe haven for everyone to live, learn and play!  The show will also highlight "movers and shakers" in County government as well as other key entities that are making a positive difference in our community.

Monday, September 26th, from 2:00-2:30 PM - Detective Mary Jo Lamont, MDPD Elderly Abuse, Special Victims Bureau.  The public will learn how the MDPD assist in elderly abuse cases.  Furthermore, the listeners will learn what is the difference between elderly abuse and neglect of an elderly person; the characteristics of the typical elderly victim, aside from the obvious ones, some physical indicators of abuse, etc.


Monday, September 26th, from 2:30-3:00 PM - Detective Lisa Morales, MDPD Child Exploitation Unit, Special Victims Bureau.  The listeners will learn how the MDPD assist in child abuse cases. In addition, ample discussion will ensue around the different categories that are considered to be child abuse.


Tuesday, September 27th, from 2:00-2:30 PM - Sgt. Gloria Watson, with the Public Information and Education Bureau, MDPD.  The public will be made aware of an outstanding program that serves to lessen crime and save lives throughout our diverse communities.  The Gun Bounty program also puts money in tipsters' pockets if their tips result in the arrest of someone who illegally is in possession of a gun.  This program is another great example of how the community and the MDPD can join forces to successfully curtail crime.


Tuesday, September 27th, from 2:30-3:00 PM - Professor Manuel Mares,  Florida National College (FNC).  Our diverse community will be pleased to know that this highly acclaimed accredited College is providing extraordinary educational opportunities for individuals who are looking for specialized degrees on demand right here in Miami-Dade County.  In fact, the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (COC-SACS) has meritoriously approved FNC to tender a Bachelors Degree in Business Administration; a Bachelor of Arts in Legal Studies and a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice as well. Consequently, FNC is now a Level II Institution.
