Do you want to find out about all the essential programs and initiatives that the Miami-Dade County Police Dept. (MDPD) embarks on to keep our streets safe? Then tune into “The Human Side” radio show hosted by Rachel Tourgeman and sponsored by Florida National College every fourth Monday and Tuesday from 2:00-3:00 PM on WMBM 1490 AM. This show serves to bring awareness to the public at large of the many special MDPD programs that are in place to continue to keep Miami-Dade County a safe haven for everyone to live, learn and play! The show will also highlight “movers and shakers” in County government as well as other key entities that are making a positive difference in our community.

Officer Addys Silva with the Community Affairs Bureau of the Miami-Dade Police Dept. (MDPD) and Ms. Claudia Bailly, Principal, C.E. Bailly & Associates, Inc. The public will learn that there is a national campaign entitled: “Start Talking Before They Start Drinking” that will serve to implore parents to begin talking to their children at a very early age about the dangers of underage drinking. This campaign began as the Surgeon General’s call to action to communities across the country keeping in mind that statistically speaking, parents continue to be the #1 influence in a child’s life.

Director Robert Parker, MDPD. The listeners will be informed of the many programs that are in place within the MDPD to help diminish crime throughout our multicultural communities. As Director of the MDPD, Mr. Parker leads the largest local police department in the Southeastern United States which provides public safety service for more than 2.4 million residents and visitors of Miami-Dade County! Director Parker has proudly served as President of the Dade County Association of Chiefs of Police which is comprised of over 35 municipal police departments along with other state and federal law enforcement member agencies. Director Parker’s successful and extensive background in police management and operations for over 30 distinguished years has earned him the respect of many community leaders, dignitaries and grass roots individuals.

Sgt. Gloria Watson, with the Community Affairs Bureau of the MDPD. The public will be made aware of an outstanding program that serves to lessen crime and save lives throughout our diverse communities. The Gun Bounty program also puts money in tipsters’ pockets if their tip results in the arrest of someone who illegally is in possession of a gun.
