The Safe Neighborhood Parks Bond ordinance established the Safe Neighborhood Parks Citizens’ Oversight Committee (SNPCOC) to oversee the administration of the Bond program. The SNPCOC is comprised of thirteen (13) volunteer members (one residing in each of the County’s Commission Districts, appointed by their respective Commissioner). Duties of the SNPCOC include the following:
In addition, SNPCOC members diligently work with municipal representatives, community groups and elected officials to ensure the on-going progress of SNP park projects. Their dedication to the community regarding the SNP Bond program reaches far beyond committee meetings. Members also attend grand openings and dedication ceremonies for various parks, and meet with grantee representatives and governing officials regarding SNP projects. Many SNPCOC members can be spotted throughout the community visiting park sites and meeting with concerned citizens and community groups.
The SNPCOC has two (2) standing sub-committees:
 |
The Grant Review sub-committee, which is responsible for the initial review of all grant applications before recommendations are made to the full SNPCOC; and |
 |
The Monitoring, Auditing and Administrative Rules (MAAR) sub-committee, which is responsible for the oversight of Bond fund disbursements, as well as development and update of the Administrative Rules. |
All SNPCOC and sub-committee meetings are noticed on the County Calendar and open to the public. Meetings are usually held on weekday afternoons in a central downtown Miami location or at an SNP-funded park facility.
Membership Applications are being accepted for all Commission Districts. The SNPCOC is seeking committed individuals who are interested in the enhancement of parks and willing to serve on at least one standing sub-committee.
