MIAMI – The Office of Community Advocacy is partnering with De Hostos Senior Center, a 501(c) (3) organization, to cohost a mini Health Fair where the attendees can obtain valuable information on the new Medicare card. Teresa Zayas, from the regional office of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, will be making a presentation. The event will take place on Monday, July 30 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at De Hostos Senior Center, 2902 NW 2nd Ave, Miami, FL 33127.
The new Medicare cards will no longer have the Social Security numbers in order to prevent fraud, fight identity theft, and keep taxpayer dollars safe. Attendees will learn the mailing process for the new cards.
The event is free and open to the public. Some of the participants are: VITAS® Healthcare, the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI), the Florida Health Department Miami-Dade (FDOH), the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), the United States Social Security Administration, the Alliance for Aging, and Florida’s Chief Financial Officer.
The Office of Community Advocacy is charged with making Miami-Dade County "One Community" that embraces our diverse and unique population.
