The Office of Community Advocacy to host World AIDS Day signature event “Commemorating 30 Years”

MIAMI – The Office of Community Advocacy, with the support of the Miami-Dade County Office of the Chair and members of the Board of County Commissioners, the Florida Department of Health in Miami-Dade, and Survivor’s Pathway, is hosting a World AIDS Day signature event “Commemorating 30 years” on Tuesday, December 4, 2018 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the lobby of the Stephen P. Clark Center, 111 NW 1st Street, downtown Miami.

In 2011, Commissioner Joe A. Martinez sponsored a resolution declaring the first week in December as Miami-Dade County Aids Awareness Week. This year’s World AIDS Day signature event “Commemorating 30 years” will address the Miami-Dade County impact of the HIV/AIDS epidemic during the last 30 years. It will also include testimonials from member of the community who are living with HIV and participants will be reminded of the importance of getting tested for HIV. The event will culminate in a “Celebration of Life” with music, performances, and the opportunity to learn about available community resources.

The event is free and open to the public. If you need more information, please contact Office of Community Advocacy Executive Director Rene Diaz at 305-375-1799.
