The Pillowcase Project is a preparedness education program for children in grades three to five, which teaches students about personal and family preparedness, local hazards, and basic coping skills. Generally given as a 60 minute presentation by Red Cross volunteers, the program leads students through a learn, practice, share framework to engage them in disaster preparedness.
The Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services will be in the lobby of the Stephen P. Clark Center from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. providing assistance and information regarding consumer protection and Florida's agricultural economy.
Representatives from Senator Marco Rubio's office will be assisting residents w/ federal issues such as U.S. passport applications, housing, transportation, child support, military/veteran affairs, etc. & The US Citizenship & Immigration Services will be providing assistance to residents w/ different concerns or questions about their Immigration status.
The Florida Department of Health, Miami-Dade Transit and 3-1-1 have joined forces to offer free HIV and STD testing to the public at select Metrorail stations. HIV test results available in as little as 20 minutes. Counseling will also be available on-site. For more information, please call 3-1-1 or visit: www.testmiami.org. Residents can receive assistance in attaining or renewing a driver's license or identification card, as well as several federal services. Due to limited space, residents interested in obtaining a driver's license or ID card must make an online appointment. Those with appointments must bring proper documentation as required by the DMV. A list of suitable identification is available at www.gathergoget.com. DMV-to-Go representatives do not administer driving exams.
MDX will also be on site to provide all attendees with free SunPass-minis for all vehicles in their household. In addition to providing a free SunPass-mini, MDX will inform residents about the SunPass Tag Swap Program.
