Intern Corner

The Miami-Dade County Board of County Commissioners (BOCC), Office of the Chair Community Advocacy Internship Program offers juniors, seniors and graduate international students the opportunity to experience working in local government through the largest and most diverse county in Florida.

The Community Advocacy Internship Program provides an experiential environment where interns not only learn about the work of the BOCC Office of the Chair Community Advocacy, but also take an active and substantive role in research, communications, and advocacy projects. In addition, students will be shadowing staff at the Mayor’s Office thereby giving a holistic view of the executive and legislative branches of County government.

The program’s ultimate goal is to educate student interns through shadowing and projects, which tackle the programs and initiatives of the 6 Advisory Boards of the Office of the Chair Community Advocacy.

Students contribute weekly reports, coupling their experience and point of view on pertinent issues, thereby bridging the generational gap.
