MIAMI – The Office of Community Advocacy was awarded the Getting 2 Zero Awareness Week Outstanding Collaboration Award on Dec. 12 at the 2018 Test Miami Awards and Community Mobilization event held at the Marriott Miami Airport. The Florida Department of Health hosts the annual event. During the ceremony, community agencies, volunteers, and peers were recognized for exceptional performance in responding to the HIV/AIDS epidemic in Miami-Dade County.

County Commissioner Sally A. Heyman sponsored resolution 622-17 creating the county-wide awareness campaign which was unanimously approved by the Board of County Commissioners. With the collaboration of the Florida Department of Health, the goal of the campaign is to get to zero new HIV/AIDS cases, zero AIDS related deaths, zero stigma, and zero discrimination.
