Miami-Dade Animal Services Partners With Miami Marlins to Host First Ever Adopt-O-Mania Event

Miami-Dade County Animal Services Department, under the direction and support of Mayor Carlos A. Gimenez and in collaboration with the Miami Marlins, will be celebrating its inaugural Adopt-O-Mania Event, on Sunday, September 2, 2012, at Marlins Park, prior to the Marlins vs. Mets game at 1:10 pm.   Onsite, Miami-Dade Animal Services along with your Miami Marlins, invite the community to celebrate an afternoon of baseball, family fun, festivities and adoptions.

“Daily, there are hundreds of deserving pets in the shelter waiting for their chance to be adopted into a loving home.  It is very important to keep this in mind when considering extending your family with a pet.  Any one of our pets can bring happiness and love to any family,” said Carlos A. Gimenez, Mayor of Miami-Dade County.

As an added feature, Animal Services will provide 25 sterilization surgeries for dogs and The Cat Network will provide 40 sterilization surgeries for cats, at no cost to the residents of surrounding communities.  Similarly, for a bundle price of $25.00 per pet, Animal Services will be administering 100 rabies and booster vaccinations along with microchip implantation.  Vaccinations are essential in protecting the health of pets and microchips provide permanent lifetime identification, which is invaluable should a pet become lost.  In order to participate, an appointment MUST be scheduled by calling 3-1-1.

“Please feel free to come out to the park and enjoy a ball game with a new added friend.  There will be plenty of pets that are in need of a loving home and you can show your support on September 2nd at the Marlins Park by adopting a pet,” said Alex Muñoz, Director of Miami-Dade County Animal Services.
