Miami-Dade Animal Services Partners With Miami Marlins to Host the Holiday Adopt-O-Mania Event

Miami-Dade County Animal Services Department, in collaboration with the Miami Marlins Ayudan Team, will be celebrating its second pet adoption event, Marlins Holiday Adopt-O-Mania, on Saturday, December 1st, 2012, at Marlins Park, from 10 am to 2 pm., along with the Humane Society of Greater Miami and The Cat Network.

We would like to invite the community to celebrate an afternoon of family fun, festivities, pet adoptions and vaccinations” said Alex Muñoz, Director of Miami-Dade County Animal Services Department.  “During this holiday season, bring joy to your home by adopting a shelter pet.  You will be saving a life and begin a most rewarding bond with a special new friend.

As an added feature, Animal Services will provide 25 sterilization surgeries for dogs under 50lbs. at no cost to the residents of surrounding communities.  Dog and cat booster vaccines will be offered free of charge.  Rabies vaccinations and microchips will be provided for $10each (low cost rabies applicable for qualifying pet owners).  Licenses will be available to purchase onsite. Vaccinations are essential in protecting the health of pets and microchips provide permanent lifetime identification, which is invaluable should a pet become lost.  In order to spay/neuter your dog at the event, an appointment MUST be scheduled by calling 3-1-1.

Each year, Animal Services receives over 30,000 pets. The goal of this event, as with any event in which the Department participates, is to increase pet adoptions and community awareness and involvement with the shelter.  For more information, visit Animal Services or call 3-1-1.
