Find a Furry New Member for Your ''Home Team'' at the Miami-Marlins Adopt-O-Mania Pet Adoption Event
Over 150 Pet “Recruits” Available For Adoption!
Miami-Dade County Animal Services Department, in collaboration with the Miami Marlins Ayudan Team The Voice, will be celebrating their third pet adoption event, Marlins Adopt-O-Mania, on Sunday, June 2nd, 2013, at Marlins Park, from 9 am to 2 pm., along with the Humane Society of Greater Miami and The Cat Network.
“We are extending an invitation to the community to celebrate a day of family fun, sports, festivities, pet adoptions, sterilization and vaccinations” said Alex Muñoz, Director of Miami-Dade County Animal Services Department.
As an added feature, Animal Services will provide spay/neuter surgeries for dogs under 50 lbs. at no cost to the residents of surrounding communities and The Cat Network will offer free sterilization for cats. Dog and cat booster vaccines will be offered free of charge. Rabies vaccinations and microchips will be provided for $10 each (low cost rabies applicable for qualifying pet owners). Licenses will be available to purchase onsite. Vaccinations are essential in protecting the health of pets and microchips provide permanent lifetime identification, which is invaluable should a pet become lost. In order to spay/neuter your dog at the event, an appointment must be scheduled by calling 3-1-1. For cat spay/neuter appointments, please contact The Cat Network at 305-233-9958 or email email@example.com.
Each year, Animal Services receives over 30,000 pets. It is our goal to find loving homes for these shelter pets and to reunite them with their families. To adopt a pet, become a foster parent or a volunteer, please visit www.miamidade.gov/animals or call 3-1-1.
About the Miami Marlins
The Miami Marlins were granted a Major League Baseball franchise on July 5, 1991. The Club’s first game and win was on April 5, 1993 against the Los Angeles Dodgers. The Club was originally named the Florida Marlins until November 11, 2011 when they officially became the Miami Marlins. The Marlins opened their state-of-the-art, retractable roof ballpark in Miami in March 2012.
The Marlins won their first of two World Series Championships in 1997 in the deciding game of seven-game series over the Cleveland Indians. At the time, the Marlins became the quickest expansion franchise ever to win a title in Major League Baseball history. The Marlins won their second World Championship in 2003 in six games over the New York Yankees.
Since 1993, the Marlins have been awarded two Manager of the Year awards, three Rookie of the Year awards, seven Silver Sluggers, nine Gold Gloves and have had 39 representatives at the All-Star Game.
The Miami Marlins, L.P. are owned by Jeffrey H. Loria who officially purchased the franchise on February 16, 2002.
