Miami-DadeAnimal Services Department to participate in the ASPCA nationwide Mega Match-A-Thon 12-Hour Adoption Event


(MIAMI, October 11, 2013) – Sponsored by the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA), 12 Hours of non-stop pet adoptions event will be held on Saturday, October 19, 2013, from 9:00am till 9:00pm at Tropical Park, located at 7900 Bird Rd (SW 40th Street).  Dade County Shelters and rescue groups will unite forces to save animals lives and will be present with hundreds of dogs, cats, puppies and kittens looking for forever homes.

The ASPCA, Miami-Dade County Animal Services, Humane Society of Greater Miami, and The Cat Network along with rescue groups from all over South Florida have united for this event. The ASPCA is granting nearly $270,000 to support large scale adoption events such as this. There will be other Mega Match-A-Thons being held throughout the country on this same day. This will be your chance to find your forever friend and loving pet. All adoption fees will be reduced.

There will be festivities for the entire family, Kids Arena complete with fun games for children of all ages, food and refreshments, fun entertaining program, DJ’s and live bands performing on stage. Admission to the event and parking is free.

Miami-Dade Animal Services Department is an open admission public shelter. Over 27,000 pets are abandoned each year at the shelter where staff and volunteers work diligently to reunite, re-home or find a Rescue Partner for the animals. The Department is also responsible for enforcing Chapter 5 of the Miami-Dade County Code and Florida State Statutes pertaining to animal cruelty and neglect.
