Friends of Miami-Dade County Animal Services

Thank you Maddie's Fund!
For several years, Animal Services has been working with a coalition in Miami-Dade County that includes the Humane Society of Greater Miami, The Cat Network, Pet Rescue and Friends Forever.  The goal of the coalition was to secure grant money from 'Maddie's Fund' which comes from an organization that supports communities who work together. 

In November of 2008, the group, led by the Humane Society of Greater Miami, was told that $30,000 would be awarded.  The Animal Services Department is very grateful to Maddie's Fund for this grant money.  The collection and publication of this data is sponsored by Maddie's Fund.

Thanks to Pet Heaven Memorial Park for organizing and hosting a mobile adoption and fund raising event for ASD. A good time was had by all with some cute furry friends available for adoption, along with a raffle, prizes, refreshments and a silent auction. Special guests included Commissioner Jose "Pepe" Diaz and ASD Director Dr. Sara Pizano.  Proceeds benefitted the Miami-Dade Animal Services Trust Fund.

Dr. Juan Sardinas and Karmela's Fund helped Lady, a Miami-Dade Animal Services dog that needed surg ery and who was then rescued by Miami-Pets Alive, Inc.  Lady, a 1 year old Pointer Mix, was hit by a car and surrendered by her owner.  Lady received the medical attention needed and is now recovering from her injuries and orthopedic surgeries.
