Gracie Now

Gracie

Hello,
My name is Jean-Nate Fonte and I adopted a dog from your facility a little less than 2 weeks ago. "Plum" was an emaciated terrier mix who had hookworms and was extremely skinny. Since then she has almost doubled her weight and, although she is still on the medications, she shows no signs of worms. She is struggling with a bit of a respiratory infection and has a skin problem that being treated but overall, she's doing very well.

I've changed her name to Gracie because although everyone at your facility kept referring to me as her "savings grace", she has gotten my 8 year old dog out of her depression (brought on by her sister passing a few months ago) and she has also restored my belief on how precious life can be and how simple and effortless it can be to make a difference...so, she really turned out to be our savings Grace!

Thank you so much for going out of your way to help me adopt her. I have had a very negative opinion of Miami-Dade Animal Services because of bad experiences I had over the years, but it seems that so much has changed and you were so caring and helpful...I really, really appreciate it. The gift you have given me is immeasurable and I am forever grateful.

See more of Gracie here.

Warm Regards,
Jean-Nate

Kenya

Kenya

This is Kenya, formerly known as NOLA. she was adoped on November 3rd  from Miami Dade Animal Services.

She was in the "west wing"  and had kennel cough, one of your great volunteers ( I think it's the girl in the pet detective picture) helped me find her and pick her out and was very helpful :)

She really made me see this dog for the great pet she could be and why she needed a great home.

She now lives in a happy home in which she is very very spoiled and happy. her cough is getting better, and she enjoys her walks 3 times a day and her special bed in my room that gets lots of sunshine. i get so many compliments on how beautiful and polite she is.

I'm so happy for animal services, she is such a good girl! well trained, friendly to all people and dogs, and just so glad to be in a home. i will definitely send people over who are looking for a new pet. my grandfather who hasn't left his room since he started to become ill many months ago, has become one of her best friends and even went outside to walk her, you guys havent just given us a dog, youve brought this family together and made our house a home.

She is a miracle dog!

Thank you guys so much,
Fransheska Vieux

Xander

Xander
Hello,
My name is Alex and I adopted my beautiful boy, Xander Valentine in September of last year.  He is a hairless Chinese Crested and was given the last name Valentine by his previous owner, because he was born on Valentine’s Day.

I truly believe that finding Xander was a gift from God.  I had just lost my job and went online to search for any Chinese Crested for adoption – when he popped up.  It was like 11 at night and the ad had just been posted and I replied right away.  Good thing I did because by the next morning, more than a dozen people had replied to the article, and I happened to be first in line.

I went to visit Xander that afternoon and he was a little standoffish at first.  But throughout the week I went to see him a couple more times and he finally warmed up to me.  He has been such a joy in my life and considering my name is Alexander, he was destined to be a perfect fit.

Regards,
Alex Alvarez

Shaggy

Hi,
Name is Diana and my family and I adopted Shaggy on July 5, 2008.
He is a one year cocker spaniel and we could not have got a better dog
anywhere else. Not only is Shaggy gorgeous but he is very smart. He is such a happy
dog, his antics bring joy to everyone that sees him. Our whole family fell
in love with him. He was even house trained and knew some tricks.

I really want to thank Miami Dade Animal Services for all their work and effort.
Animals deserve to be loved and taken care of. Shaggy is a prime example of a great
dog that deserved a god home and that is exactly what he got.

Sincerily Grateful
Diana Alberich
