Fees

Per Chapter 5.7(c) - Every person owning, keeping, or harboring any dog over 4 months of age in Miami-Dade County, or bringing any dog over 4 months of age into Miami-Dade County, needs to register the dog with the Animal Services Department within 30 days of the dog entering the County, and obtain a license tag (dog tag), which the dog shall wear at all times. (Cats are not required to be licensed.)

Each license tag shall be renewed annually by the anniversary of the dog's most recent rabies vaccination. If the dog is not timely revaccinated, and the license tag not timely renewed, the due date for the renewal of the license tag shall be the anniversary of the untimely revaccination.

Adoption Fees

Impound and Redemptions

Dog owner will be charged both the redemption fee and the boarding fees. Unless proof is provided at the time of redemption, owners will have to pay to vaccinate a dog or cat ($15) and purchase a license tag for their dog. The tag for a spayed/neutered dog is $27. If the dog has not been spayed or neutered, the cost is $55.

  • Subsequent redemption (sterilized dog) within 12 months
    $75 - plus $10 boarding per day
  • Redemption (unsterilized dog)
    $100 - plus $10 boarding per day
  • Subsequent redemption (unsterilized dog) within 12 months
    $125 - plus $10 boarding per day
  • Redemption (sterilized cat)
    $30 - plus $5 boarding per day
  • Subsequent redemption (sterilized cat) within 12 months
    $60 - plus $5 boarding per day
  • Redemption (unsterilized cat)
    $50 - plus $5 boarding per day
  • Subsequent redemption (unsterilized cat) within 12 months
    $85 - plus $5 boarding per day
  • Euthanasia & Disposal (25 lbs. and under): $25.00
  • Euthanasia & Disposal (26 lbs. to 50 lbs.): $30.00
  • Euthanasia & Disposal (51 lbs. and over): $40.00
    Animal Services has the right to refuse to euthanize any pet that is not ill.
  • Disposal Only

    • 26 lbs. to 50 lbs : $15.00
    • 51 lbs. and over: $20.00 
  • Dog sterilization co-pay

Rabies Vaccinations


Rabies vaccinations and licenses may be obtained from a veterinarian or at the Miami-Dade Animal Services shelter.

Pet Care packages for dogs

  • Option 1: Vaccine Package (Rabies, Bordetella, and DHPP vaccines): $35
  • Option 2: Full Service Package (Rabies, Bordetella, DHPP, and Microchip): $50
  • Option 3: Special Service Package (Rabies, Bordetella, DHPP vaccines, Microchip and Spay/Neuter Surgery) $80

Pet Care packages for cats

  • Option 1: Vaccine Package (Rabies and FRCPC vaccines): $20
  • Option 2: Full Service Package (Rabies, FRCPC vaccines, and Microchip) $35
  • Option 3: Special Service Package (Rabies, FRCPC vaccines, Microchip, and Spay/Neuter Surgery): $50

(to be eligible must provide proof of federal assistance):

  • Option 3: Special Service Package (Rabies, Bordetella, DHPP vaccines, Microchip, and Spay/Neuter Surgery) $70

Reduced fees for Low Income* pet owners

*Note: Low Income Owner is a person receiving public assistance under one or more of the following programs:

  • Food Stamps: Must provide current eligibility letter; card is not accepted.
  • Medicaid: Must provide current eligibility letter; card is not accepted.
  • Supplemental Security Income (SSI): Must provide current eligibility letter.
  • Temporary Assistance for Needed Families (TANF): Must provide current eligibility letter.
