Dog Tags

License Tag/Vaccine Expiration Date. To determine the expiration date of your license/vaccine or if the account accurately reflects your contact information, please have your tag number ready (i.e. L99-999999) when using the "Dog License Look-Up" service. If the information is inaccurate, please use our Pet Account Update service to submit your correction request.

Failure to comply: $150.00 fine for unsterilized dogs (plus a $5 ASD surcharge fee and a $10.00 Clerk of Court fee), $50.00 fine for sterilized dogs (plus a $5 ASD surcharge fee and a $10.00 Clerk of Court fee).

*NOTE: To qualify for the reduced fee, the pet owner must be at least 18 years old and receiving public assistance under one or more of the following:

  • Food Stamps: Must provide current eligibility letter.
  • Medicaid: Must provide current eligibility letter.
  • Supplemental Security Income (SSI): Must provide current eligibility letter.
  • Jackson Memorial Hospital Clinic Cards: Must provide current eligibility letter.
  • Temporary Assistance for Needed Families (TANF): Must provide current eligibility letter.

Rabies vaccinations and licenses may be obtained from a Veterinarian or at Miami-Dade Animal Services.

Renew by Mail

  1. Check must be made payable to: Board of County Commissioners. No cash accepted via mail.
  2. Check must be accompanied with copy of rabies certificate completely filled out.
    • Pet owner's address and phone number must be listed on check.
    • Company checks not accepted.
  3. Proof of public assistance must be included to qualify for reduce fee.
  4. To purchase your pet's license tag via mail, please mail your pet's current rabies certificate and payment to:

Note:   To ensure a quick turnaround and prevent unnecessary delay of your request, please make sure that rabies certificate contains the following information:

  • Breed Name
  • Correct spelling of pet name
  • Age
  • Sex
  • Spayed or Neutered
  • Color
  • Current Address and Phone Number
  • Correct spelling of pet owner name
  • Rabies vaccination expiration date

Renew in Person

 

You can also renew in person at any one of the 311 Service Centers.

  1. Pay by Check or Money Order.
