Animal Services provides Lost and Found services to the public. If Lost and Found personnel are unavailable when you visit the shelter, the Front Desk personnel will be happy to assist you.
If You Lose Your Dog:
- Come to the shelter every day to see if your pet is here. Walk through the door on the east side of the lobby marked Adoptions. Look through Rooms D, E, F, H, I, J, K and in the kennels behind those rooms.
- If you do not see your dog in any of these locations, ask an employee to escort you to the following restricted areas. It is very important that you look for your pet in these four areas daily:
- B ward
- C ward
- Surgery Recovery (if dog has been missing more than 5 days)
- West Wing (all of it)
- See pictures of pets on the bulletin board titled “Stray Pets in Medical Foster Care” located in the lobby.
- If your pet is not at the shelter, ask the front counter personnel to show you the “daily deceased pet log.” (It’s difficult, but it will give you closure.)
- Check the shelter’s website for photos of your pet
If You Lose Your Cat:
- Walk through the door on the east side of the lobby marked Adoptions.
- Cats and kittens are in Rooms L, M and O. Please look in these rooms.
- If you do not see your cat in either of these wards, ask an employee to escort you to the Cat Receiving area.
Before leaving the shelter:
- Fill out a "Lost/Found Pet Form" and post a flyer with information and color photo of your lost pet at the Lost and Found office in the lobby.
This information is available in Spanish and Creole.
