Miami-Dade Animal Services Teams up With Community Action and Human Services Department to Celebrate National Senior Citizens Day by Offering Free Pets

All adoption fees for pets adopted at the shelter by a senior citizen during this event will be waived

The Miami-Dade Animal Services and Community Action and Human Services Departments are teaming up to find homes for abandoned dogs and cats, and companionship for senior citizens. This adoption event, being launched to recognize National Senior Citizens Day, will run from Sunday, August, 19th through Saturday, August 25th, at the Animal Services shelter located at 7401 NW 74 Street, in Miami.  All adoption fees for pets adopted at the shelter by a senior citizen during this event will be waived.  This week long adoption event is made possible with the support of Miami-Dade County Mayor Carlos A. Gimenez and through the sponsorship of County Commissioner Javier D. Souto.

“It is our hope to find loving homes and lifelong companions, that in turn will encourage their new owners to be more active both mentally and physically,” said Mayor Gimenez.

“This effort can help address two very important needs in our community by finding homes for abandoned pets and improving the lives of seniors,” stated Commissioner Souto.
