Animal Services Launches Dog Sweater Drive

Beginning, November 20, through December 20, 2012, Miami-Dade County Animal Services Department (ASD) in coordination with the Miami-Dade County Public Library System (MDPLS), will be hosting a sweater drive for shelter dogs. In preparation for dropping temperatures and the upcoming winter season, ASD is seeking donations of sweaters to keep shelter dogs warm and comfortable. Drop off new and gently used dog sweaters at any MDPLS branch library. Sweatshirts may also be donated and are needed in children’s small to adult extra-large sizes.

In order to give everyone wishing to help the opportunity and convenience to make a donation, we have included a pet sweater donation box at the Stephen P. Clark Building at 111 NW 1st Street, Miami, FL.

“Keeping our pets safe and healthy at the shelter is a top priority.  These contributions will assist us in ensuring that our shelter pets are kept warm during the winter months,” said Miami-Dade Animal Services Department Director Alex Muñoz.

Drop off your donations at any of the following libraries:

Each year, Animal Services receives over 30,000 pets. The goal of this event, as with any event in which the Department participates, is to increase pet adoptions and community awareness and involvement with the shelter.  For more information, visit www.miamidade.gov/animals or call 3-1-1.
