Miami-Dade County Animal Services lifesaving transport program ensures Happy Holidays and Forever Homes for kittens

(MIAMI, December 12th, 2013)  – In a continued effort by Miami-Dade County Animal Services Department (ASD) to save more lives, and as part of a partnership with the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA), 48 South Florida felines will begin the journey of a lifetime this Saturday, December 14th, 2013.  As part of the ASD Shelter Pet Transport Program, these lucky cats will find forever homes waiting for them once they arrive in Maryland.

“This is not the first transport of its kind, we have saved thousands of cats by transporting them to an area of the Country in need of cats and will continue to do so thanks to the incredible support of the participating organizations, their staff and volunteers,” said Alex Muñoz, Director of Miami-Dade County Animal Services Department.   “ASD is proud to be part of this life saving effort.”

Each year, Animal Services receives over 27,000 abandoned pets. It is our goal to find loving homes for these shelter pets and to reunite them with their families. To adopt a pet, become a foster parent or a volunteer, please visit www.miamidade.gov/animals or call 3-1-1.
