Miami-Dade County Animal Services will add cheers of "woof, woof" and "meow, meow" for the home team at the "Marlins Ayudan Adopt-O-Mania" pet adoption event, Sunday, May 4 in Marlins Park


(Miami, April 25, 2014) – Miami-Dade County Animal Services (Animal Services) and the Miami Marlins Ayudan Team, known as “The Voice”, will once again add more cheers, woofs and meows to the game during the “Marlins Ayudan Adopt-O-Mania” pet adoption and spay/neuter event taking place on Sunday, May 4 from 9 a.m. - 2 p.m. at the Miami Marlins Park, 501 Marlins Way (NW 16th Avenue and NW 6th Street) Miami, FL 33125

Pet lovers will be able to choose from a variety of adorable cats and dogs at 50% off regular adoption fees. The fee for dogs over 35 lbs. or over 5-years old will be waived and adopters will be only be responsible for a $27 license fee. All pets are spayed/neutered, vaccinated, microchipped and ready to go to forever homes.

Potential adopters are sure to find a furry new member for their home team at this fun-filled event, which also features live entertainment, food and activities for the whole family, before the Marlins take on the Los Angeles Dodgers.  As a bonus, the Marlins will offer the first 100 guests to adopt a cat or dog two free tickets to a select Marlins regular season home game in June 2014

“This is our fifth collaboration with the Miami Marlins and the Marlins Ayudan Team who share our commitment to saving the lives of shelter pets,” said Alex Muñoz, Director of Miami-Dade County Animal Services. “We look forward to being able to give people the opportunity to save the life of a shelter pet that will reward them with companionship, loyalty and unconditional love.”

The Humane Society of Greater Miami and The Cat Network will also join Animal Services to offer reduced pet adoptions at the event.

In addition to low cost pet adoptions, Animal Services will offer free spay/neuter surgeries for dogs under 40 lbs.  The Cat Network will offer spay/neuter surgeries for cats.  Dog and cat booster vaccines will also be offered free of charge.  Spay/Neuter surgeries are by appointment only.* To schedule an appointment for dogs, please call 3-1-1. *Requirements; No Exceptions:  Service available for Miami-Dade County residents only. A maximum of four (4) appointments per residential address. Proof of current rabies vaccination must be provided for all dogs and cats. Dogs and cats without a current rabies vaccine will be vaccinated at the time of surgery (only dogs up to 40 pounds are eligible).  Veterinarians may decline surgery of any pet due to health reasons.
