To get into the spirit of Mother's Day, Miami-Dade County Animal Services will waive pet adoption fees on all pets over 4 months old from Tuesday, May 6, 2014, through Sunday, May 11, 2014

The six-day free pet adoption special offers the perfect opportunity to give mom some furry unconditional love

(Miami, May 5, 2014) – Miami-Dade County Animals Services is getting in the spirit of Mother’s Day, by waiving adoption fees for all pets over 4 months from Tuesday, May 6, 2014 through Sunday, May 11, 2014.

This six-day free pet adoption special offers the perfect opportunity to give moms an extra source of unconditional love. It’s also a great opportunity to get a sweet loving pet for someone who is looking to be a pet’s “mom.”  Going away to college in the fall?  Adopt a shelter pet for mom and dad to fill the inevitable empty nest void! There are many good reasons to adopt a shelter pet, but the most important reason of all is that is saves their lives.

“A shelter pet can be a treasured gift for mom, or anyone. They offer so much love, loyalty and appreciation,” said Alex Muñoz, Director of Miami-Dade County animal Services. “We hope the community takes this opportunity to give someone, or even themselves, the wonderful gift of a shelter pet.”

Pet adoptions include free spaying/neutering, rabies vaccinations and microchipping and deworming. Cats will be tested for FIV and FeLV, and dogs over 6 months are also tested for heartworm.
