Miami-Dade County Animal Services celebrates National Adopt a Shelter Dog Month

(MIAMI, October 10, 2014) – Miami-Dade County Animal Services (Animal Services) celebrates National Adopt a Shelter Dog Month by encouraging Miami-Dade residents adopters to visit the shelter to connect with, adopt, and fall in love with a shelter pet.

Animal Services encourages adopters to visit the shelter and/or participate in off-site adoption events to find homes for all dogs and cats. For the third straight year, Miami-Dade County Animal Services, The Humane Society of Greater Miami, The Cat Network, and participating rescue organizations will be taking part in the nationwide ASPCA Mega Match-A-Thon pet adoption event at Tropical Park, starting October 17, 2014 at 11:59 p.m. and ending October 18, 2014 at 11:59 p.m.

“The best way to honor this month dedicated to shelter pets is to save a life, choose pet adoption and raise awareness about shelter pets. Dogs and cats make excellent companions and it is a rewarding experience to offer a permanent home to a shelter pet,” said Alex Muñoz, Director of Animal Services.

Please note Animal Services will be closed on Monday, October 13, 2014, in observance of Columbus Day.
