Miami-Dade Animal Services to host "Pets in the City" adoption event at the Southeast Financial Center Plaza on Thursday, Dec. 11

It’s furry chic to live with a dog or kitty in the city

(MIAMI, Dec. 3) – Miami-Dade County Animal Services (Animal Services), in collaboration with the Southeast Financial Center will bring pet adoptions downtown on Thursday, Dec. 11 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the plaza located at 200 South Biscayne Boulevard, Miami, FL 33131.

Animal Services will offer 50 percent off adoption fees. All pets adopted are spayed or neutered, given age appropriate routine vaccinations, dewormed and microchipped.

"We look forward to making 'Pets in the City' a regularly occurring event that makes it easy for people who live or work in the downtown area to adopt and give our wonderful shelter pets a loving forever home,” said Alex Muñoz, Director of Miami-Dade County Animal Services. “Bringing pet adoption events to every community in our County offers residents the opportunity to participate in helping us achieve our no kill goal."

Every week 500 dogs and cats are abandoned by their owners at Animal Services. Community pet adoptions events are an integral part of Animal Services’ continuing efforts to keep our community’s pets alive and make Miami-Dade County a no kill community.

Every year Miami-Dade County Animal Services Department (Animal Services) provides care and refuge for over 27,000 unwanted dogs and cats. Every day, Animal Services staff and volunteers work diligently to find life-long homes for these abandoned animals by facilitating onsite adoptions, hosting off-site adoption at events and locations throughout the community, and working collaboratively with over 70 rescue organizations who share in our goal of a No Kill Miami-Dade County.
