(MIAMI, April 9, 2015) – A new voucher program from Miami-Dade County Animal Services offers low-cost spay/neuter surgeries for dogs weighing 50 pounds and over. The vouchers are available during regular business hours at the Animal Services shelter, located at 7401NW 74 St., Miami, on a first come first serve basis. The program is open to all Miami-Dade County residents owning dogs weighing 50 pounds and over. Dog owners can redeem the vouchers to obtain sterilization, rabies and DHPP vaccinations, if needed, for a total cost of $30.00 at the following locations:

“Being able to offer low-cost spay/neuter surgeries for dogs over 50 pounds is an important step toward helping to reduce the number of pets abandoned at Animal Services,” said Alex Muñoz, Director of Animal Services. “Every week approximately 500 pets are abandoned at the shelter—unfortunately big dogs make up a large number of those unwanted animals.”
