Trap-Neuter-Give-Back Program

Can I bring my dog for TNG service?

No, TNG or Trap-Neuter-Give Back is a program for community cats only.

How many cats can I bring for TNG?

There is no limit to the number of community cats per person.

I am not a Miami-Dade County resident, can I bring a community cat for TNG?

No, the TNG program is only available for residents of Miami-Dade County.

How big does a cat need to be for TNG?

Cats must weigh at least 3 pounds to qualify for TNG.

If I bring a community cat for TNG, does that make me the owner?

No, community cats are free roaming cats which by definition have no owner.

How much does TNG cost?

TNG is free, the service includes sterilization, vaccination against rabies, FRCPC (feline booster shot), eartip and delivery back to the community.

Can I pick the cat up at the shelter after surgery instead of having the shelter deliver?

Yes, you will need to indicate on the TNG form that you would like to pick the cat up rather than have it delivered. If you fail to pick the cat up promptly once you have been contacted, it will be released at the location you provided on the TNG form.

What happens if the shelter cannot reach me to pick the cat up?

The community cat will be delivered and released at the location you provided on the TNG form.

What happens to the community cats if I do not pick them up after surgery?

If you do not promptly come to pick the community cats up they will be released at the location you provided on the TNG form. The cats will be released back into the community they came from.

What is an eartip?

Ear tipping is a procedure which is performed while the cat is anesthetized for sterilization surgery. A small portion of the tip (1cm) of the left ear is removed. Only sterilized cats have an eartip.

Why eartip?

Many community cats are difficult to approach or handle. An eartip lets everyone know from a safe distance that the cat has been sterilized.

Can my pet cat have the free TNG service?

No, the TNG program is for community cats only. Pet cats can be sterilized for the low cost of $15.00.
