African Heritage Cultural Arts Center

For over 30 years the African Heritage Cultural Arts Center (AHCAC) has served as a nesting ground for emerging talent in the visual and performing arts. Located in the heart of Liberty City, AHCAC provides inspiration and encouragement to the members of the community. Through afterschool and summer arts programs, students, ages 6 – 18, have the opportunity to learn dance, theater, drawing, music, fashion design, technical theater, and painting from arts professionals and teachers. Many of the participants in the arts programs at AHCAC have gone on to perform on Broadway, become principle dancers with Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater and the Texas Ballet Theater, start their own dance companies, and receive full scholarships to top colleges and universities.

This state-of-the-art facility houses a 250-seat black box theater, a 300-seat, acoustically-sound music hall, a dance studio, a visual art gallery and multipurpose rooms available for workshops and classes.
