Attorney Profile

Joni Mosley is chief of the Torts and Medical Malpractice Section. Joni is an experienced litigator having served as lead counsel in numerous jury trials since becoming a member of the Florida Bar in 2003.  As a member of the Torts and Medical Malpractice Section, Joni defends the County and the Public Health Trust at both the trial and appellate level in lawsuits involving allegations of wrongful death, medical malpractice, false arrest, negligent security, premises liability, and automobile negligence. Joni has also argued and prevailed before the Florida Supreme Court in defense of Miami-Dade County's sovereign immunity. 

Prior to joining the Torts and Medical Malpractice Section, Joni practiced in the area of Labor and Employment representing the County in employment discrimination matters in both federal and state court, and before administrative agencies.  Her experience also includes labor arbitrations, commercial transactions, drafting legislation, and serving as counsel for various County boards and departments.
