John McInnis is currently a member of the Land Use Section. John has been practicing in the area of zoning and land use law for over 17 years. � He served in the office�s Labor and Employment Law Section from 1983 to 1994, and during that period, served as counsel to the County�s Equal Opportunity Board. �John was also a member of the Commercial Law Section from 1992 to 2007, and represented the County�s Department of Business Development.

As a member of the County Attorney�s Office, John has handled numerous trials and appeals. �He successfully argued before the Florida Supreme Court that a county may lawfully prohibit housing discrimination on the basis of age. �He also prevailed in the Florida Supreme Court, arguing that a county disciplinary action is not an action for unpaid wages for which the employer may be liable for attorney�s fees.�
