Born in Port-au-Prince, Haiti in 1959, Didier Fabien arrived to the United States with his parents in 1971. He lived in Queens, New York where he attended both primary and secondary schools. He received an Associates Degree in Dental Technology at the New York City Technical College. He later transferred to the Fashion Institute of Technology (NYC) where he was awarded a degree in Jewelry Design.
In 1985 he established his own company, Fabien Jewelers, Inc., in New York, which he later successfully transferred to Miami. Mr. Fabien additionally, utilized his entrepreneurial skills to operate a mortgage and real estate enterprise. He also maintains a working knowledge and keen interest in the cultural arts.
Mr. Fabien became a member of the Black Affairs Advisory Board (BAAB) and the black heritage Planning council in 2003, where he initially demonstrated his multiple talents, strong leadership and a commitment to community service.
Mr. Fabien is also active in numerous other community oriented organizations such as Habitat for Humanity; the Haitian American Association Against Cancer (HAAC) was recently appointed as Executive Director of the Haitian American Emergency Relief Committee (HAERC). He sincerely looks forward to continuous involvement in serving his community and working with the diverse residents and unique cultures of Miami-Dade County.
Mr. Fabien and his wife, Chantelle have two children - Frantz and Francheska, enjoy living in Miami-Dade County and being involved in the great quality of life which this community offers.
