Letter from the Chair

Welcome to the Black Affairs Advisory Board website. As Chair, I believe that this Board should be both knowledgeable and responsive to the issues and concerns affecting the diverse members of the Black World Community who reside and do business in Miami-Dade County. My vision is a Black World Community in continual search for fairness, justice, equal access, full participation and equality of opportunity in all local, state and national institutions, programs and policies.

The impact of the African Diaspora on Miami Dade County can be seen in the rich, cultural tapestry which is interwoven into the American fabric. This Board encourages "spreading the word" about the many contributions and services rendered by those whose ancestors originated from the African continent.

The Black Affairs Advisory Board (BAAB) is also responsible for gathering information and articulating the concerns of the Black World Community to the Board of County Commissioners. The BAAB is consequently charged with disseminating statistical information and data that reflect the changing dynamics and demographics of our constituents.
