Patricia Jennings Braynon, Director
Mrs. Braynon has been the Director of the Housing Finance Authority of Miami-Dade County since 1990. As the Director, she is responsible for the administration of the County's $2 billion bond financed housing programs. Mrs. Braynon also serves as the President of the Miami-Dade Affordable Housing Foundation, which furthers the goals and mission of the Authority. In April 2008, she was elected National President of the National Association of Local Housing Finance Agencies (NALHFA), a Washington, D.C. based non-profit association which advocates before Congress and federal agencies on legislative and regulatory issues affecting affordable housing.
During Mrs. Braynon's twenty-four year career with Miami-Dade County government, she also served as one of six Assistant County Managers. She began her career with Miami-Dade County as a Loan Officer for the County's Documentary Surtax Homeownership program. She assisted with the implementation of this unique homeownership program from its inception. Before her employment with Miami-Dade County government, Mrs. Braynon was employed by a major local lending institution, in the mortgage lending and accounting departments.
Mrs. Braynon is a graduate of Tuskegee University and holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration. She and her husband Oscar J. Braynon are members of two of Miami's pioneer African-American families. The mother of two adult children, she is also involved in numerous local organizations, which address affordable housing and other civic and social issues.
