John E. Dixon, Jr. is a native of Buffalo, NY. He is a graduate of Johnson C. Smith University in Charlotte, NC and the University of North Carolina at Charlotte where he received his B.A. in Political Science.
Professionally, John has worked as the Director of Business Expansion, Attraction, and Retention for the Beacon Council where he co-authored a hurricane revitalization paper that received the national recognition for the Arthur D. Little Award for Economic Development. Also, he served as the Chief of Staff for Miami-Dade County Commissioner Dorrin D. Rolle, District 2.
John was the Director for Corporate Affairs at the WAGES Coalition where he interfaced with major corporations to address issues regarding welfare recipients that were being released from public assistance.
Mr. Dixon was the Executive Director of the Miami-Dade County Black Business Association where he worked on projects such as the following: the $8 billion Restoration of the Florida Everglades Project; the expansion of the American Airlines North Terminal Project at Miami International Airport; and the Beautification Project for the HOPE Six Housing initiative.
Currently, John serves as the Interim Executive Director of the Economic Advisory Trust. John is a member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity and is a founder of One Blackmen of South Florida. He has participated in Leadership Miami and the United Way's Project Blueprint.
