    Children's Advocate for Miami-Dade County
    Imran Ali, Director

Mr. Ali’s career working with the children and families of our community spans more than two decades.  His career in social services began in 1976 when he accepted a position with Guyana’s department of public assistance. In 1981 Mr. Ali relocated with his family to Miami-Dade County. Shortly after his arrival he began working for the State of Florida’s Department of Children and Families (DCF) where he held progressively responsible positions including the Director of Operations for all DCF programs and Director of Child Welfare. His 21 years experience with the State of Florida includes programmatic, operational, and budgetary responsibility for public assistance, community control for juvenile offenders, intake services for children in the delinquency and dependency system, foster care and child care licensing, child abuse investigations, foster care, adoptions, child protective services, adult services, adult and children’s mental health, and developmental disability services for children and adults. Under his leadership at the Department of Children and Families, the district received a national award from the Department of Human Services in Washington for the highest number of adoptions in the State of Florida. He also served on President’s Clinton Adoption Committee in 1994.

More recently, Imran Ali served as Program Director for the Children’s Home Society of Florida and Chief Operating Officer for the Family Resource Center of South Florida. Imran Ali has participated in many local, state and national committees all focused on providing children the opportunity to grow up in a safe, secure, stable and healthy environment. His colleagues honored Mr. Ali in 2003 when he was inducted into the 11th Judicial Circuit’s Juvenile Wall of Honor where some of our community’s most distinguished child welfare leaders, advocates and experts are recognized. Although he considers this a great honor, he sees his greatest accomplishment as being the difference he has made to the many children and families of our community through his advocacy efforts.

Imran Ali has a Bachelor’s degree in History and Sociology and a Masters degree in Business Administration.
