Victoria L. Mallette is the Director of Communications for Miami-Dade County Mayor Carlos Alvarez and part of the Mayor's Senior Staff. She is responsible for developing and promoting the Mayor's agenda, and ensuring that the administration's message has been successfully delivered.
As Director, Mallette along with her staff, coordinate and advance the Mayor's public appearances; liaison with local, national and international media to focus attention on the Mayor's agenda and accomplishments; and develop public relations strategies to advance the Mayor's programs and initiatives.
Mallette serves as the Mayor's chief spokesperson and is a key advisor to the Mayor on complex, sensitive or controversial matters of public information and media relations.
Mallette is also the Mayor's primary speechwriter, which includes the writing and editing of the Mayor's annual State of the County Address. She reviews and approves correspondence emanating from the Mayor's Office, including media advisories, press releases, constituent letters, monthly newsletters, columns and related informational materials; prepares and organizes media events, including media availabilities, press conferences, and town meetings; and is responsible for the content and accuracy of the Mayor's website.
Mallette also coordinates with the County's media relations, marketing, graphics services and television programming departments, as well as the County's Government Information Center.
Prior to joining the Mayor's Office, Mallette was the Senior Political Producer at WPLG-TV in Miami, Florida, and worked alongside Senior Political Reporter Michael Putney to produce reports on politics and government, as well as "This Week in South Florida", the longest-running and highest-rated show of its kind in South Florida. During her time at WPLG-TV, Mallette also served as an Investigative Producer, Line Producer, and Associate Producer.
Previously, Mallette worked at WINK-TV, Southwest Florida's News Leader, in Fort Myers, Florida where she worked her way up from a camera and teleprompter operator to the 5:30 and 11pm Producer, responsible for the rundown of news stories, editorial decisions and the coordination of live broadcasts.
Mallette received a Bachelor of Science in Broadcast Journalism from Florida International University and Master of Science in Communications from Boston University.
Mallette is married and has two daughters, Claire and Erin.
