Inson Kim was appointed director of Community Information and Outreach in May of 2015. A veteran of public service, Kim first joined Miami-Dade County in 2000 and has served in a number of increasingly responsible positions.
In November of 2014, Kim was promoted to Director of Intergovernmental and External Affairs in the Department of Regulatory and Economic Resources (RER). In this capacity, she was responsible for all legislative and intergovernmental activities as well as the department’s internal and external communications.
Prior to joining RER, Kim was the Director of Policy and Legislative Affairs for the Office of the Mayor. Kim also served as the primary liaison with the administration’s senior leadership team and all County departments, while working closely with the Director of Communications and Chief of Staff. In 2012, Kim served as the point person during the Charter Review Task Force process.
From 2005 through 2011, Kim was Senior Policy Analyst and Commission Aide for then-District 7 County Commissioner Gimenez. She analyzed and evaluated agenda items and legislative issues, initiated policies, worked with local and national media, and served as liaison between the Commissioner and constituents, among other duties.
Kim began her career in the Miami-Dade Aviation Department as a Public Information Officer. She managed the redesign of Miami International Airport's (MIA) website and worked with local and national news outlets in the aftermath of September 11, 2001. She was then promoted to Advertising and Promotions Coordinator overseeing the development and implementation of promotional campaigns for MIA.
In addition, Kim was Assistant Editor at Mass Media Enterprises, where she coordinated the editorial and production for three monthly community newspapers.
