Mario E. Goderich - Interim Director

Mario E. Goderich was appointed interim director of the Miami-Dade Consumer Services Department (CSD) in August 2011. Mr. Goderich has over 26 years of experience in the development of government regulatory programs. In 2003, Mr. Goderich was appointed Deputy Director of the department and held that title for the next eight years where he was responsible for policy implementation and for the administration of the department's operating budget.
Mr. Goderich was also the Director of the County's Consumer Protection Division from 1998-2003. Under his leadership, the department's mediation center was redesigned to employ Florida Supreme Court Certified Court Mediators resulting in over one-million dollars in annual consumer reimbursements since 2006. In addition, Mr. Goderich created a fiscal compliance unit that generates $1 million dollars in revenue annually.
When Miami-Dade County was responsible for regulating cable television, Mr. Goderich was charged with negotiating numerous code provisions and addressing many challenging cable-related policy issues. Mr. Goderich also managed all aspects of the cable license administration and ensured that cable providers were complying with code. As an expert in telecommunications issues, Mr. Goderich has served in an advisory capacity to the County and municipalities in the areas of wireless/cellular towers, rights-of-way management and Federal Communications Commission's rulemaking affecting local government. Mr. Goderich is a regular guest lecturer at several South Florida universities on consumer protection law and policies.
Mr. Goderich holds a Master of Science in Management degree from St. Thomas University and a Bachelor of Liberal Studies degree from Barry University. He is also a 2007 graduate of the Harvard University, John F. Kennedy School of Government.
