Jeff Peel is the Director of the Miami-Dade Office of Film and Entertainment, responsible for the growth and development of the $2 Billion film, television, music, commercial advertising and still photography industries in Miami-Dade County. He has served in this position since 1994 and has overseen a rapid expansion of these industries, which now account for more than 2000 location filming productions annually. A major accomplishment of his tenure has been the creation of FilMiami, an on-line one-stop film permitting system that allows productions to film in multiple jurisdictions throughout Miami-Dade County.
Mr. Peel also serves on the Board of Film Florida, and is past president of Film Florida, the Florida Film Commissioner's Association and the Miami chapter of the International Television Association. He has also served on the Florida Film and Entertainment Advisory Council as an appointee of the Governor, and as an advisor to the Miami-Dade College Film School and Florida Atlantic University.
He joined Miami-Dade County in 1987, recruited to build the County's cable television operation Miami-Dade Television, which he managed as executive producer until he became Director of the Office of Film and Entertainment. Previously, Mr. Peel managed cable television channels for municipalities in the Pacific Northwest. He began his media career as a radio announcer in Seattle.
Mr. Peel holds a Bachelor's Degree in Mass Communications from the University of Washington, and has an MBA from Eastern Washington University.
