Mr. Hammer has nearly 30 years of experience in financial management and planning positions in both the public and private sector. Prior to his appointment as Director of Finance for Miami-Dade County, Mr. Hammer served as Chief Financial Officer for the Palm Beach County Clerk's Office. There, he managed an investment portfolio of more than $2 billion helping to obtain the highest ratings assigned by Standard & Poor's. In addition, Mr. Hammer oversaw all financial accounting and reporting for Palm Beach County and helped lead the effort to implement Palm Beach County's Oracle/Peoplesoft enterprise resource planning system. These efforts helped the County maintain a AAA bond rating on their nearly $2 billion debt portfolio.
Prior to his tenure at Palm Beach County, he held multiple positions as chief financial officer, controller and management accounting-related positions in the private sector.
Mr. Hammer holds a Master's of Accounting from Florida Atlantic University, an Master of Business Administration (MBA) from Florida Atlantic University and a Bachelor's degree from University of Miami.
