Wendi Norris - Director
General Services Administration
Wendi Norris leads one of the County's largest operational departments delivering central support services necessary for the continued operation of county government. With more than 800 employees and a budget of $300 million, the General Services Administration provides building and property management; real estate development, leasing, sales and acquisition, including affordable housing; elevator regulation; security services; fleet management and maintenance; architectural and engineering design as well as construction management of new construction and major renovations; printing and graphics services; and administers self-insured programs for liability, worker's compensation and employee health insurance.Ms. Norris was appointed director in April 2006 after serving as interim director of the General Services Administration since July 2005. She has been with the department since 1997, beginning as an Assistant Director for administration and procurement, obtaining progressive promotions with more responsibility, culminating with her appointment as Deputy Director in 2003.
Ms. Norris began her career with Miami-Dade County in 1991 as a public information officer at the Aviation Department. She has a bachelor's degree in English from the University of Michigan.
